HOW TO LIST AN OPPORTUNITY

TO POST AN OPPORTUNITY ON MIRA’S LIST

If you run a grant foundation or an organization or academic institution that offers fellowships, or you run an artist residency program, you are welcome to send me information about your program. Artist residency programs should offer something to the artist for free, such as free housing or studio space, a scholarship or stipend, etc. If not, I will consider each residency on a case to case basis.

Please read the last paragraph in this post before sending me something.

To have an opportunity listed:

Send me the text in the body of an email, NOT a pdf or Word doc. It must be brief and contain the following:
deadline information, location (if a residency), artistic discipline, working link to website, contact information, description of program/opportunity, what artist receives (amount of grant, free studio, stipend, etc.), if there are any restrictions (age, location, etc.) and whether or not your opportunity is for artists from all over the world. That’s about it! Send what you want to mirabartok@yahoo.com and I will get it up as soon as I can. Because it takes me a while sometimes to get things posted, please try to get posts to me as much before a deadline as possible. Also, if you run a residency, you can also send a small jpg (no larger than 400 KB) and I might put up a picture of your site.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SENDING ME ANYTHING:

What I do not post: Programs that are not competitive and/or that are profit based, such as art retreats, classes and workshops, exhibition or publishing opportunities (except in certain situations), amateur programs, jobs (unless it is part of an amazing fellowship) and contests, unless they are ones I am running myself. There are exceptions to this rule but because I deal with all artistic disciplines, I try to focus on grants, fellowships and residencies. I do, however, post some of these things on my Mira's List facebook page and you are welcome to do the same. The announcement will go immediately to twitter. Go here to do that: http://www.facebook.com/pages/MIRAS-LIST/72394590508

If you would like me to advertise your program, however, then please click on the "Advertise on This Site" tab on my home page or just go here: http://www.miraslist.com/p/advertise-on-this-site.html

Welcome to Mira's List

This blog provides information on upcoming grants, fellowships and residencies for artists, writers, composers, and media artists. It is for serious professionals only, from emerging to mid-career to established. I also publish information for graduate students from time to time. However, I do not publish information on exhibition or publishing opportunities, nor do I advertise artist retreats and workshops that charge money. At least that is my current policy. For more info on where to exhibit or publish, please see my links section which I try to periodically update. I sift through hundreds of search engines and websites to find opportunities for YOU dear artist. In return, I ask you to pass the information along to those who need it. Also, since this is a free blog, I don't always have the time to weed carefully through everything. If you find a grant or website or residency that is not up-to-date, is dodgy in some way, or is no longer in existence, please let me know! Also, if you stay somewhere at one of the residencies I suggest and have a good experience, I want that feedback too. Please check my FAQs at the top right side bar if you have questions before starting your search. Best wishes and happy hunting!
